Special webcast Monday, March 10, at 10 p.m. ET

Hello again…it’s been awhile, but John LeMasney and Brian Kelley will be returning with a special webcast Monday, March 10, 2014, at 10 p.m. ET. Tune into this web site or our YouTube channel to watch.

In addition to talking about the latest topics dealing with technology and art, John and Brian will be focusing on the 39th edition of the Trenton Computer Festival (TCF) taking place Saturday, March 15, at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, N.J. John will be speaking at the festival, presenting a talk on how technology can help you develop your personal brand.

Within 48 hours of the webcast, an edited version will be repurposed into a standard, audio-only podcast that will include an excerpt of an interview Brian recently conducted with TCF co-founder and chair, Dr. Allen Katz, for his Tandem With The Random podcast.

Technology and the Arts Special: Art All Night Trenton 2013

John LeMasney and Brian Kelley return with this special episode of the Technology and the Arts webcast, as they talk about one of their favorite events, Art All Night, which takes place every June in Trenton, N.J. The webcast includes a teaser of an interview John and Brian did with Joseph Kuzemka, planning committee chair/creative director of Art All Night. John LeMasney to defend Android vs. iOS tonight at Princeton Public Library

As previously mentioned in our webcasts and podcasts, Technology and the Arts co-host John LeMasney will be taking part in a “Droid vs. iOS Smackdown” at the Princeton (N.J.) Public Library tonight from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. (ET). Of course, John will be representing the Android community while Khürt Williams will be speaking on behalf of iOS users.

Oh, and I plan to be in attendance, so if you are in the area, feel free to say hello to me and/or John.

• John talked about the iOS vs. Android Smartphone Smackdown he is doing with Khürt Williams on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Princeton (N.J.) Public Library…spoiler alert: John will be representing Android.
• John shared the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) YouTube channel and, in particular, its series of videos on abstract expressionism (below is the video on Ad Reinhardt’s painting techniques we showed during the episode).
• Brian talked about two online events he experienced this past weekend—the “Banding Together” benefit webathon to fight spondylitis on BlowUpRadio.com (featuring March 2007 Technology and the Arts guest Christian Beach and The Mustache Rangers‘ 250th live-streamed podcast episode.
• The amazing story of Rodriguez, a Detroit folk-rocker who put out two albums in the early 1970s that went nowhere until a small resurgence in Australia and New Zealand in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Even with that, though, Rodriguez spent most of his life living in or near poverty in Detroit, doing demolition, construction and other odd jobs. Meanwhile, Rodriguez had achieved superstar status—unbeknownst to him—through bootleg copies of his music in South Africa, with his music inspiring the anti-apartheid movement. A widely held belief that Rodriguez committed suicide on stage only heightened the mystery, which two fans decided to solve in 1998. After tracking down Rodriguez and finding out he was still alive, they arranged for a quick tour of South Africa and his career resurgence today. • Finally, Brian describes his failure to see any decent meteors during this past weekend’s Orionids meteor shower…even though Mike Black in Belmar, N.J., managed to get some nice photos of them (see 5, 6 & 7).

Former podcast guest Christian Beach to appear on BlowUpRadio.com tonight

Singer-songwriter Christian Beach, who was a guest of the Technology and the Arts podcast back in March 2007, will be appearing just after 6 p.m. ET tonight (10/21) on BlowUpRadio.com’s weekend-long “Banding Together” benefit webathon to raise awareness and funds to fight Spondylitis, a chronic inflammatory disease that causes pain in the back, neck and hips.

Plus, anyone who clicks on this link and makes a donation to the Spondylitis Association of America this weekend will receive a compilation CD that includes a lot of the great music played on BlowUpRadio this weekend, including the track “Platte Cove Road” from Christian’s upcoming EP.
